Mrs. Mary Jean Collins Crews, 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Crews was born in Surry County to the late George H. and Rosa Baldwin Collins on January 3, 1934. Mary came to Winston-Salem at a young age. She married the love of her life, Billy Gray Crews on October 15, 1955, and was married for 62 years. Mary and Billy enjoyed spending time at Carolina Beach, fishing with friends and family and having many fish fry's. They enjoyed raising a garden and sharing it with others. Mary always enjoyed doing for others. Mary was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and sister. After graduation she began working at Southern Bell Telephone Company, in which she retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of Salem Life Member Club of the Pioneers of America. Mary also was a member of Forsyth Park Baptist Church, Fidelis Sunday school class, and served on the Board of Directors for Forsyth Park Baptist Church Child Development Center. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, George H. Collins, Hassell Collins and E. Arnold Collins; and one sister, Oline Rogers. She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Gray Crews; one son, Barry Crews and wife Jan; grandchildren, Brandon G. Crews and wife Crystal, Hunter F. Crews, Garrett Bell and wife Madison, Erin Bell, and Rachel Bell; great-grandson, Isaac G. Crews; and 15 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Forsyth Park Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Southern officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forsyth Park Baptist Church, 1600 Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Hospice Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
