Mary Douglas-Reynolds

Ms. Mary Anthanette Douglas-Reynolds, 78, daughter of Stout and Gertrude Douglas, was born November 12, 1940 in Winston-Salem, NC. Mary passed peacefully into God’s arms on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 5:01 AM.

Mary was known to her friends as Mary, Nette, and Anthanette. To her family as Mama, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great-Grandma, Nette, and Auntie. She was also a stepmother to Diane Riggsbee, mother-in-law to Garland and Aileen, and a play mother to Stefanie, Robbyn, Yvonne, and Cathy.

Mary worked for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 33 ½ years of dedicated service. After five years of retirement, Mary worked for Aramark for ten years.

Preceding her in death are her parents; sisters, Margaret and Betty; brothers, Bernard and James; and grandsons, Isaiah and Daryl Jr. Mary leaves to cherish precious memories of her life five children: Maria and husband Garland, David and wife Aileen, Willia, Caryl, and Daryl; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; a brother, Charlie and wife Dot; and a sister, Anna “Tete.”

Mary had her “crew” of devoted friends, including: Beverly Leake of Chapel Hill, Betty Barber of Winston-Salem, and Patricia Gary of Winston-Salem.

A home going service will be conducted in her honor 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at The Love Church, officiated by Pastor Curtis Friday. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
