Mrs. Mary Helen Fisher, 81, passed away on May 14, 2017, at Trinity Elms Assisted Living, 3750 Harper Road, Clemmons, North Carolina. Mrs. Fisher was born March 22, 1936, to Thelma Mae Brandon ""Bill"" Burgess and Rey Jasper Burgess. Mrs. Fisher graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and then enrolled at Lenoir Rhyne College in 1954. It was during her time at Lenoir Rhyne College that she met her future husband, Clinton R. Fisher. Upon completion of her studies, Mary Helen began working for the Veterans Administration. During the seven years with the Veterans Administration, she married Clinton R. Fisher in 1958. A wife, mother and homemaker, Mary Helen owned and operated Fisher's Picture Frames for fifteen years. She was a Life Member Volunteer at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, serving for twenty-three years, 1988-2011. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton R. Fisher and her sister, Betty Burgess Bolin. Mrs. Fisher is survived by a daughter, Anne McDowell and her husband, Chris, of Pfafftown, NC; a son, Clinton Scott Fisher and his wife, Sandra, of Low Gap, NC as well as three grandchildren, Lindsey and Chelsea Smith of Winston-Salem and Brandon Smith of Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11:00 am at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. John Beeg officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 10:00 - 10:45 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mary Helen was a long-time member of the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials sent to ""The Lippard Lodge Fund,"" in care of the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, 5220 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like to extend its appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Trinity Elms Assisted Living as well as Community Home Care and Hospice of Statesville, NC for the excellent care, love and support given to Mrs. Fisher.
