Mary Kathleen “Kat” Hackett, 71, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018. Kat was a very loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend and a genuine kind soul. She had an infectious smile and laughter that could brighten any ones day. Kat truly loved everyone and you could not help but to love her right back. She touched the lives of many others through her years of employment at Hebron Church of Christ and Hickory Farms (where she was a manager). She was also a member of Midway Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxilliary. Kat had many great loves in her life that included her family, beach trips, her favorite rose bush, feeding her birds and squirrels and books. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lanier Gray Woosley, Sr. and Mary Hauser Woosley; and her brother, Lanier Gray Woosley, Jr.

Surviving family includes her husband of 50 years, Arthur “Leroy” Hackett; sister, Sue Ann Smith and husband Charlie; daughter, Karen Howard and husband Mike; granddaughter, Skylar Howard; son, Chris Hackett and wife Mitzee; and grandchildren, Velveteen, Chadwick and Sheridan Hackett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Open Door Baptist Church on Burke Mill Rd. in Winston-Salem, with Pastor Don Hackett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kate B.
