Mary Louise Griffin Ligon

Mrs. Mary Louise Griffin Ligon, 83, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Stokes Co. on March 17, 1930 the daughter of the late Jasper Lewis Griffin and Sallie Wall Griffin. Mrs. Ligon was a member of Leak Memorial Baptist Church in Germanton and was retired from Hanes Knitting with 45 years of service. In addition to her parents she preceded in death by her husband, David Eugene Ligon and two brothers, Lewis Jr. ""Big Boy"" Griffin and Richard Griffin. She is survived by three daughters, Vickie Ligon Cox (Kenny), Mitzie Ligon Mooney (Clay) and Kathy Ligon Bray (Mitch), four grandchildren, Marcus Alexander ""Alex"" Cox, Cindy Cox White (David), Dana Bullins Nelson (Dean) and Clayton Bullins, four great-grandchildren, Jasper White, Sarah White, Austin Nelson and Logan Nelson, two sisters, Tannie Jean Harper (Sam) and Brenda Erlene Griffin Gilley, one brother, James E. Griffin (Barbara) and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Leak Memorial Baptist Church in Germanton with Rev. Danny Poindexter and Rev. Terry Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
