Mary Lou McKenzie

Mrs. Mary Lou McKenzie, 67, passed away at her home in the loving arms of her husband and 2 daughters on July 8, 2015. Mary Lou was born on November 3, 1947 in Surry County. For 25 years she served as a Teacher's Assistant at Lawsonville Elementary School. Mary Lou enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, cooking and canning. She selflessly gave and did for others. However, her greatest love was her family; and she will always be remembered as a wonderful Mama, Nana, and wife. Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, Julian McKenzie; daughters, Brook McKenzie, and Leigh McKenzie (Don Haynes); grandson, Broc Baldo; and a large extended family; as well as a special friend, Mary Gries. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 10, 2015 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with daughter, Leigh McKenzie, and Mr. Jerry Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
