Mrs. Mary Louise Morgan, 93, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Arbor Acres Retirement Community, just shy of her 94th birthday.
Louise was born on January 12, 1932, in Rome, Georgia, to the late Fannie Belle and Ferdinand Hinton Forrest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Francis Tyler Morgan Jr. and her four siblings. She is survived by her three sons, James Morgan, Wayne Morgan (Patty), and Tim Morgan (Denise); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Louise was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem and was steadfast in her faith throughout her life.
Louise was a wonderful cook, well known for her delicious cakes, biscuits, and Southern-style dishes that were enjoyed by family and friends. She was also a talented seamstress, delighted in attending her grandchildren’s many activities, and enjoyed traveling with her husband and lifelong friends. As a military wife, Louise faithfully raised her three sons during many long hard months when her husband was deployed overseas. Throughout her life she volunteered at school and church, and later worked part-time for Fortis Homes.
Above all else, Louise cherished her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She asked about them often and their visits brought her deep joy and a source of comfort and brightness in her later years. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Arbor Acres in Robinson Hall at Asbury Place, with Chaplain Mary Beth Beck-Henderson officiating.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbor Acres for the compassionate and attentive care they provided to Louise during her final years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Center, 1240 Arbor Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104, or First Presbyterian Church, 300 North Cherry Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
