Mrs. Mary Louise Tew Peters, 98, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Homestead Hills Retirement Community. Mrs. Peters was born in Cumberland County, NC on July 4, 1918, to the late Willie F. Tew and Cora Graham Tew. Mary Louise was a long-time member of Highland Presbyterian Church. Prior to moving to Homestead Hills, Mary Louise enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers. More recently she enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, granddogs, family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Peters, Jr.

Mary Louise is survived by three sons, Charles E. Peters, III and wife, Margaret of Winston-Salem, Stuart Peters and wife, Becky of Advance, NC, and Stephen Peters and wife, Carroll of Clemmons, NC; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucy Pitts and Grace Sink.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastors Randy Harris and Debbie Layman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Highland Presbyterian Church, 2380 Cloverdale Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
