Mary Louise Pritchard, was born in Danville, PA on September 23, 1925 to John and Ruth Pritchard. She passed away at Homestead Hills, in Winston-Salem February 11, 2014. Mary Louise graduated from nursing school at Geisinger Memorial Hospital in Danville, PA and entered the army as a nurse in May of 1951. She retired July 1981 after a rewarding 30 year career obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was stationed in many countries, Korea and Japan during the Korean War, SHAPE in Belgium, Germany, Thailand, Lebanon as well as many USA locations, Hawaii, West Point, NY, Ft. Eustis and Ft. Monroe, VA, Ft. Riley, KS, Ft, Sam Houston, TX, and others. She received United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal - Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Occupational Medal - Japan, Army Commendation Medal - 2-Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal - 2-Oak Leaf Cluster. Mary Louise enjoyed reading, beach trips and playing bridge. She belonged to several bridge clubs and groups allowing her to play several times weekly. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Pritchard; brother, Tom Pritchard, Sr.; sister and husband, Josephine and Roy Green and their daughter, Holly. She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Dottie Pritchard of Winston-Salem; nephew, Tom Pritchard (Gail); niece, Louise Eason; great nephew, Benjamin Pritchard; great nieces, Alena Tyler (Channing) and children, Haven and Owen, Lori Wilder and son, Cooper, Kristen Fansler (Andrew) and daughter, Emma. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. An inurnment will follow in the Louisa Bitting Dalton Memorial Garden with full military honors. A reception will be in the Colhoun Room.
