Mary Louise Teague, adored mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 18, 2017. Mom is now also in the company of the love of her life of 65 years, the late Ira Eugene Teague. Mom was the daughter of the late Zeb V. Sr. and Harriet McCormick Norton.
She leaves behind to remember her with love and adoration, three children: Sandra Louise Teague, Annette Teague Brinkley, and Randall Eugene Teague and wife Cindy. Randy, Cindy and family looked after Mom in their home until her passing. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Crissy, Reagan, and Travis, Chad and wife Stephanie Brinkley, Chase and Dakota Teague, and Nikki and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Reese and Tabor Brinkley; and sisters and brothers, Phyliss Norton Kimel, Spud Norton and wife, Clara Nell, and Alton Norton and wife Joan.
Mom was a member of First United Church of Christ and treasured the Wednesday morning Craft Class family that labored lovingly for many years making craft items for church members and shut-ins. What craft item to make and refreshments to provide were always gentle on her mind. She also taught crafts at Ocean Lakes Campground, Myrtle Beach, SC, where she and Dad lived and worked for several years. Mom loved to crochet and touched so many with her afghans made by memory and given to many out of a generous, kind heart. Many may remember the meat pies she made for years for her church school class. She also loved to attend the church softball games where her husband pitched many a game.
Mom will be remembered as a gentle soul who put others before herself so many times, yet there were moments you would get a glimmer of the strong woman that she was. She loved to go shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom loved to go on Saturday to have her hair fixed and out for lunch. She loved to watch Lawrence Welk and enjoyed her chocolate.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 21st at 6:30 pm at First United Church of Christ, 1912 Waughtown Street, Winston-Salem, with Rev. Christa Warise officiating.
