Mary Anders Thomas

Mrs. Mary Anders Thomas, 66, passed away June 20, 2017 At Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1950 in Alamance County to the late Thomas R. Ellington and Ethel Gladson Ellington. Mary was a devoted Christian throughout her life and loved the Lord. She retired from Bellsouth with 30 years of service. She worked at the YMCA for over 10 years. She loved to be around people and all who met her became friends. Mary loved reading books and enjoyed her trips to the beach. Her favorite time of day was watching the sun rise every morning as the waves rolled in. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her previous husband Rusty Anders. Mary is survived by her husband of 21 years, James R. Thomas; one daughter, Tammy Anders; one stepson, Jesse Thomas (Natasha); two grandchildren, Madison Richardson, Trevor Anders; three brothers, Harold Ellington (Kathy), Thomas Ellington (Bonita), John Ellington (Carol); one sister, Betty Jenkins, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Lynn Johnson was a very special friend she loved dearly. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall with Dr. Brad Stamey officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M.
