Mary Lee Taylor Walsh 51, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism. Mary was born Sept. 20, 1965 in Birmingham, Alabama to Peggy Riddle Taylor and the late Alan Kent Taylor. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in 1983 and her beloved University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. She spent her professional life in advertising, most recently as the Vice President of Media and Financial Systems for MullenLowe in Winston-Salem. She was an avid sailor and a fan of all things sports. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Melanie Taylor; grandparents Jesse Winstead & Mildred Shoaf Taylor and Carl F. & Ocie Helsabeck Riddle. Mary is survived by her husband, Douglas Kirk Walsh; children, Lanie and Colin Walsh; brother, Alan Kent Taylor, Jr (Stephanie); sister, Teresa Taylor Bodford (W. Terry); nieces, Jennifer Bodford Roberts (Mark), Morgan Bodford Smith (Josh); great niece, Ivy Lee Smith; an aunt, Carolyn Riddle Marshall (Paul). Mary, a nurturing woman as well as a warrior, was a positive influence on every life she touched. She was grateful to all who made her life joyful. She was a daughter, she was a mother, she was a sister, she was an aunt, she was a friend, but most of all, she was sweet Mary, our angel on earth. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkway United Church of Christ, 2151 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 (entrance on Irving St.) the Rev. Darren Alexander, officiating. Parking at the church is limited; please share a ride. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway later that evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to The IBC Network Foundation at www.theibcnetwork.org.
