Matthew Wassong

Mr. Matthew Paul Wassong, 41, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Matthew was born on April 2, 1977 to Marguerite Perry Wassong and Joseph Paul Wassong, Jr. in Fayetteville, NC. He was of the Lutheran faith. A gifted athlete, Matthew excelled at golf, and softball. He was a great short stop and enjoyed all types of competition. Matthew was a dedicated coach who loved his students. He was also an extreme animal lover and advocated for animal rights. In addition to his grandparents, Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Wassong. Surviving are his father, Joseph P. Wassong, Jr. (Alfie Maria) of Kingsville, MD; a sister, April Carter (Stephen) of King; a brother, Joey Wassong (Nicole Russo) of Clemmons; half-brothers, David Lange and Richard Lange; and half-sisters, Jenine Flynn and Terry Barko; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his special companion, "Doggie." The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
