Maudie Mae Hughes, 89, passed away peacefully at her home May 19, 2024. Maudie was one of sixteen children born to Frank and Ada Clark in West Virginia. 

She was a strong-willed lady who loved her family and took great joy in being Mawmaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maudie was a faithful church member, never missing a service for as long as she was able. 

In addition to her parents and siblings, Maudie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hughes; daughter, Mary Pauley; son-in-law, David Yount; and grandson, Marshall Yount. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Yount and Priscilla Dunsmore (Neil); six grandchildren, Christie Renee Aaron (Michelle), Jennifer Del Real, Joseph Dunsmore (Deisy), Patrick Pauley, Justin Yount (Savanna), Ashley Dawkins and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday May 23, 2024. A graveside service will be held Friday May 24, 2024, at 11am at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to caregiver, Sandra Fairfax.
