Maynard Smith Lloyd, Jr., 69, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Maynard was born on March 29, 1956, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Maynard Smith Lloyd, Sr. and Patricia Cotten Lloyd. His family lived in several places before settling in Winston-Salem. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. Maynard was employed with the Department of Transportation for over 20 years before his retirement.

An avid fisherman and hunter, Maynard found great joy in spending time outdoors. He especially loved fishing with family and friends along the Carolina coast and at lakes throughout the region.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cotten Lloyd, in 2022.

Maynard is survived by his father, Maynard Smith Lloyd, Sr.; his siblings, Kathryn Lloyd Hicks (Jim) and Michael Lloyd (Lisa); his nieces, Meredith Moore (Paul) and Morgan Wingo (Derek); seven great-nieces and nephews, Kennedy, Kate James, Charlotte, Lucy, Ruth, Davis, and Sterling; as well as numerous friends and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Peace Haven Baptist Church Prayer Garden and Columbarium , with Rev. Nathan Parrish officiating.
