Melrose Ingram Johnson

Kernersville – Mrs. Melrose Ingram Johnson, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, April 17. 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Melrose was born on October 16, 1926, to the late Rosa Barrow Ingram and Henry Gordon Ingram. Melrose loved her family. She was a very encouraging and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to talk and sit on her porch and take in the beauty of her flower gardens. She was a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church for 80 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Don Burton Johnson of 80 years, and two children, Irene Angela Bradfield and Don Daniel Johnson, five brothers, Virgil, Glenn, Frank. Fred, Raleigh, and two sisters, Rachael and Lucy. She is survived by her five children, Janice Hume (husband, Nick), Keala “Mitzi” Vai Noel, Elaine Crummett (husband, Bill), Eva Knutson (husband, Dave), and Art Johnson (wife, Wendi); 12 grandchildren, Korrin, Tyler, Monica, Aaron, Cameron, Kristen, Caroline, Brandon, Brianna, Nathaniel, Jacob, and Nigel; 11 great grandchildren, Kaden, Andy, Ellie, Junius, Charles, Noble, Madelynn, Reagen, Isaiah, Una, and Quinn; brother, Vernon Johnson; and many special nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Melrose will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Pine Grove Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall from 2:00 - 2:45 prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103.
