Mrs. Melrose Ramey Smith, 82, of Rural Hall, died peacefully Wednesday, October 2, 2013 after her battle with cancer. Mrs. Smith was born January 15, 1931 in Surry County to James Bennett and Lottie Lowe Ramey. She was the owner and operator of Smith's Mobile Home Park in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Smith loved to sing and make music. She was an avid bass and guitar player and loved her family and friends dearly. Mrs. Smith was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Arlyss Kenneth ""Smitty"" Smith. One daughter, Julie Rebekah Smith and two sisters: Callie Moore and Fern Evans. Also one brother, Ford Ramey. Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Melany Smith Dean of Winston-Salem. One son, Brian Smith of Rural Hall. A grandson, Dustin Dean of Winston-Salem and one sister, Cora May (Johnny) Stamper of Mt. Airy. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Elder Paul Hopkins. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Friday evening, October 4th from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.
