Michael Stephen Collins

Michael Collins, 69, passed away on August 20, 2026, at his residence in Winston-Salem, NC.

Michael was born on June 13, 1957, in Forsyth County to Bud and Mary Pitts Collins. He earned his high school diploma and worked for Douglas Battery and NASCAR for many years.

Michael loved gardening, especially growing his tomato plants. He also enjoyed NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jo Baker and Jackie Lee Baker; and brothers, Marvin Baker and Joe Bill Baker.

Michael is survived by his significant other, Gretchen Fink; and sons, Stephen Collins, Michael Woodliff, Zachery Marshall, and Matthew Surber; grandchildren, Skylar Woodliff and Jacob Woodliff; sisters, Jean Lampley and Judy Davis; and brothers, Redd Baker and Jimmy Baker.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
