Michael Dixon

Michael George Dixon, 67, passed away on September 23, 2026, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born on August 30, 1959, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Edwin Harrison Dixon Jr. and Nancy Ann Head Dixon.

Michael grew up in Greenville, North Carolina where a highlight many summers was hiking the Appalachian Trail for a week with his dad and scout troop. After high school, he briefly served in the United States Navy, especially enjoying the ports in the Mediterranean. He went on to attend the University of South Florida, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English. During and after college, Michael lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, and later in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Michael cherished the time he spent with his aunt Carolyn Ritchie and her family in Greensboro and Winston-Salem. His family was an important part of his life, and he especially valued the time they shared together.

Michael is survived by his brother, Ed Dixon, his sister, Becky Morley and her husband Andrew, and his nephews, Tom Morley, Tyler Morley, and Cam Morley. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Tanya Dixon.

Michael will be remembered by his family and friends for the many years and memories they shared with him.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
