Michael Renegar, 71, passed away on October 19, 2025, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kernersville, NC. He had been a resident of the home for six months.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on March 24, 1954. He grew up as an "Air Force brat" and lived in Hawaii, Texas and Florida during the career of his late father, Chuck Renegar.

He and his late mother, Mary Haugh Renegar, lived on-and-off in West Palm Beach near his maternal grandparents, Walter and Elizabeth Haugh. Michael attended school in WP and was a graduate of The Kings Academy there.

He attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC before deciding to join the Navy at age 19. He and his first wife, the late Connie Renegar Robey, were married and together had three sons, the late Eric, James and Patrick.

Michael served for more than 20 years on various ships and in many ports, including Norfolk, Virginia, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was an Electronics Technician and retired as Chief Petty Officer. Following his service, he worked for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia and Parker-Hannifin in Millville NJ.

He and his wife, Catherine O'Donnell married in 2003. They purchased and renovated their "dream home" in Millville, NJ. After retirement, they moved to Burlington, NC to live closer to his aging parents.

Michael loved history and had an extensive collection of books on the Civil War, military memorabilia and sailing ships.

He was predeceased by his son, Eric Michael Renegar, his parents, Chuck and Mary Renegar and his brother, Chuck Renegar, Jr.

Michael is survived by his wife, Catherine O'Donnell, his sons, James (Lori) of Wayne, PA and Patrick, (Lauren) of Edgewater, MD and seven grandchildren Ben, Max and Matt Renegar of Wayne and Maddie, Claire, Charlotte and Alex Renegar of Edgewater.

He is also survived by two step-children, Erica McArthur of Newala, OK and Edward Hogg of Gaithersburg, MD and their children Ben McArthur of Florida, Jarrad McArthur of OK and Kaitlyn Hogg of Washington, DC.

Services will be held at a later time. Arrangements by the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville. The family expresses great thanks to Hayworth-Miller and to the staff of the NC Veterans Home.
