Michael "Mike" Newman

Winston-Salem- Mr. Michael “Mike” Lynn Newman, 66, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.  He was born March 26, 1954 in Forsyth County, the son of Oscar and Juanita Nifong Newman.  He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Electric Power Research Institute in Charlotte.  Mike was a humble man who had an abundance of knowledge in welding and metallurgy. He always had a way to make things work better for the benefit and safety of others. He was a devoted and loving husband and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his father.  Survivors include his wife, Mary Reed Newman; his mother, Juanita Nifong Hoots of Yadkinville; a niece, Melissa (Tom) Wilson of Asheboro; a nephew, John Reed, Jr. of Asheboro; three great nieces and nephews, Thomas Wilson, III, Pearl Wilson and Ashley Wilson all of Asheboro and a cousin, Steve Nifong of Midway  A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Hebron United Church of Christ Cemetery (Midway) with Rev.
