Mrs. Mildred Jones Boyter, 100, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 in Charlotte, NC. She was born February 10, 1918 in Forsyth County to Rowan and Bertha Jones. Upon graduation of high school, she attended Draughn's Business School. Mildred married Herman F. Boyter on April 9, 1939 and had two sons, David and Danny. She spent many of her early working years employed by Ivey's Department Store in Downtown Charlotte. She retired from Wells Fargo Bank after 30 plus years. Mildred attended Hopewell Moravian Church in Winston-Salem for many years before moving to Charlotte, where she was a member of The Little Church on the Lane. Mildred was a very caring person, who loved animals and birds almost as much as her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Francis Boyter, brothers, Lester and George, and sisters, Doris, Helen, and Elsie.
Mildred is survived by her two sons, Herman David Boyter of Elliott City, MD and Danny Lee Boyter of Columbia, MD; sisters, Elma Hege and Ina Rose Seagraves, both of Winston-Salem; and brothers, Max Jones of Harmony, NC and Sam Jones of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by loving and caring nieces and nephews too numerous to count.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Hopewell Moravian Church with Pastor Jeff Carter and Pastor Walter Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Little Church on the Lane, 522 Moravian Lane, Charlotte, NC 28207.
