Mildred Elizabeth Furches

Mildred Elizabeth Miller Furches, passed away on September 13th, 2016 at Homestead Hills. Mildred was born to Henry and Nora Miller on May 17th, 1927 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the wife of George West Furches, who died on December 4th, 2014 after 66 years of marriage. Mildred graduated from Clemmons High School and was employed by Duke Power and Bland Piano Company. She also was the organist for many years for New Philadelphia Moravian Church. Mildred then transitioned to full-time employment with West Forsyth High School as Guidance Counselor Secretary. She retired after many years of joyful service to the school system in 1986. She and George then embarked on a new life journey covering the next 20 years, during which they visited every state in the continental US, played golf several times per week and spent time at their new second home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their love for each other and for their Savior grew even stronger in these years. Mildred's close relationship with The Lord - as evidenced in the fellowship of New Philadelphia Moravian Church - continued for all of her earthly life, including her service to Music, Circle, Sunday School, Prayer Chain, Candle Trimming, Board of Elders, and many other areas. Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Elizabeth Furches who died at birth. Mildred is survived by Randal Furches and his wife Julie, Alexander Furches and his wife Katie, Jessa Macdonald-Furches, Gwynne Macdonald-Furches; sister-in-law, Katherine Rumley; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Betty Furches; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Colleen Furches; fourteen Furches nephews and nieces and their families, and five Miller nephews and their families. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Interment will follow in God's Acre. Mrs. Furches will lie in state from 10:00am to 10:30am in the church. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.
