Mrs. Mildred Mae Lane Hodges, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on April 20, 1932, in Davie County, NC, to the late Esters Augmin Lane and Mittie Bell James Lane. Mildred retired from B&G Pie Company after many years of service. She was a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith. Mildred loved spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her hummingbirds and loved all flowers, inside and out.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rex Hodges; her two daughters, Martha Ayers and Mary Ann Paschal; two sons; Albert Ayers and Charles Ayers; three brothers; and four sisters.
Mildred is survived by her son, Jerald Ayers (Libby); three daughters, Jeannie Wagner (Frankie), Wendy Waddell, and Joanna Willson (Michael); ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Yountz; special friend, Sharon Haynes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank Shanna and the staff at Kate B. Reynolds.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 4, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Ritchey officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
