Mildred A. Miller

Mrs. Mildred A. Miller, 86, of Lexington, NC went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born January 24, 1930 in Shenandoah, VA, the daughter of the late Dana Robert and Alma Jones MacKimmie. She attended Gramby High School in Norfolk, VA and was owner of beauty shops and beauty schools in Norfolk, VA, Virginia Beach, VA and NC. Mrs. Miller was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and was the founder of Ray of Sonshine Nursing Home Ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dana R. MacKimmie, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Henry L. Miller Jr. of the home; one daughter, Sherran Overton and husband, Larry of Winston-Salem, NC; one son, Bill Miller of Pawleys Island, SC; two grandchildren, Missy Shoaf and husband, Scott and Kristi Dennis and husband, Matt; four great grandchildren; and one nephew, Dana MacKimmie, III of VA. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Bush and Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winston-Salem.
