Mildred Smith Patterson

Mrs. Mildred Smith Patterson, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Mildred was born on March 17, 1933 in Monroe, NC to Wilbert and Perilla Baucolm Smith. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Her first love was her roses and gardening. She was an avid bowler, having won numerous trophies and awards. One of her many loves was teaching and spending time with young children over the years. But most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Lee Patterson; brother, James Smith; sisters, Ruth Aycoth and Ola Bowers. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Aichele (Mike) of Owasso, OK; son, Danny Patterson (Susan Lemon) of Belews Creek; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Sellers (Thomas) of Charlotte; and a brother, Clarence Faile (Maria) of Liberty Hill, SC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Angela Burris officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
