Mim Mack Andrews

Mim Andrews, (95) wife of 56 years to Alan L. Andrews (deceased), Mom to Laurie Andrews-Lester, and proud Grandmama to Brittany and Annaleigh Lester, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2016 after an extended illness. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Mim grew up in White Plains NY, and New York City. She graduated with a degree in math from the University of Vermont, and additional studies for certification as a Medical Technologist in Oregon. She worked for General Electric in Pittsfield, and Schenectady in the manufacturing department, as well as for the Veteran's Hospital as a Medical Technologist. After marrying Alan, she became a homemaker and stay at home Mom. She was involved in numerous volunteer organizations, including being a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout leader for her daughter, Laurie; Home Bureau; SPAC; American Red Cross Blood Banks; and most recently at her local hospital. Mim was an avid athlete, enjoying many outdoor activities. She spent many years as a snow skier (where she met her husband, Al), and became a volunteer ski patrol alongside him. She shared her love of the outdoors with her daughter, Laurie, introducing her to her favorites, snow and water skiing. In her later years Mim became quite the shuffle board aficionado, winning championships at Bermuda Village. Mim's talents also included numerous crafts. She knit beautiful sweaters, created numerous cross stitch pieces, as well as plastic canvas holiday villages. Her friends and family were often blessed with gifts of these beautiful creations. Mim's greatest passion was her dogs. They were her best friends, and loyal companions throughout her years. Mim was an independent, feisty, creative woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family, and she will be missed by them. She made an impact on all who knew her. There will be a memorial service on July 31, 2016 at 2:00 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church, Clemmons, NC. The family requests that no flowers or plants be sent, due to allergies. If you wish to make a donation in Mim's honor, please make one to either Companion Pet Rescue (www.cprdogs.com ) or a dog rescue of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com. (Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel)
