Mitchell Resha

Mitchell George "Mike" Resha, 92, of Winston-Salem, left this life for his eternal glory on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Brookridge Baptist Home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mike was born on January 5, 1926 in Detroit, MI to Donald George Resa and Letifia Agar Resha. After the death of both parents at a young age, Mike became part of his Uncle's family, Tom and Moma Resha, in Nashville, TN. He was the youngest of 7 children, graduated from Father Ryan Private High School in Nashville, TN and joined the Navy in 1944. He served his country for 2 years in WWII in the Pacific Theatre on LST574 transport ship where he created life-long friendships with cherished memories from yearly reunions that were held in later years with his fellow comrades. He settled in Winston-Salem where he met and married the love of his life, Theresa Sapp, on March 27, 1956. Their journey together lasted 66 years. Their lives were committed to entertaining family and friends and were known for their remarkable talent as host and hostess. He became a home builder and founded Resha Construction Co. Building was his passion. He spent 40 years in the industry and was known for his devotion to his work in an extraordinary way. He is survived by his nephews, Louis Resha, Jr., Mike Johnson, and Terry Russell; special niece, Judy Johnson; and special caregiver, Amy Pittard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the caring staff at Brookridge Baptist Home for their loving care of Mike for the past 4 years. Mike will always be remembered for his kindness, hard work, and loving and generous ways. There is no doubt there was a joyous reunion in heaven when Mike arrived as God said "Well done, faithful servant." Mike's final resting place will be Saint's Delight Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Sedge Garden on March 31st, in a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint's Delight Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Terry Motsinger, 270 Motsinger Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
