Monica 'Monti' Markland Hughes

WINSTON-SALEM-Ms. Monica ""Monti"" Markland Hughes, 65, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home. Ms. Hughes was born on May 3, 1948 in Forsyth County to Jack Lee Markland and Barbara Ann Austin Markland. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School. Monti was very generous and had a smile that could light up the room. She had a special place in her heart for children. Ms. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Hughes is survived by her sister, Bonnie Markland-Goff of Wilmington, NC and numerous other loving family members. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family is accepting flowers. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
