WINSTON SALEM - Mr. Morris Hall Meredith, 85, died Monday, February 1, 2016. Morris was born on March 30, 1930 in Davidson County to the late Daniel Robert and Mary Hall Meredith. Morris retired from Lucent / Alcatel after a long career beginning with Western Electric in Winston-Salem. He was a multi-talented craftsman and artist, with a love of guitar and stringed instruments and enjoyed playing and listening to Bluegrass music, a love shared by his grandson, Alex. He was a long time radio controlled airplane enthusiast and a member of his local club. Morris was also known for his green thumb, making many people happy for decades with produce he grew, his love for the outdoors - a mainstay in his life.
In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Baldwin Meredith and second wife, Edna Freeman Meredith.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Gary Meredith of Kernersville and his son, Alexander of Siler City; Susan Meredith Dunivant (Jack) of Winston-Salem and Carolina Beach; Christopher Meredith of Winston-Salem; Jonathan Meredith (Kim) and their daughter, Jessica and son, Grayson of Walkertown; Dennis Meredith (Crystal) and their daughters, Noelle and Paige of Dickenson, TX; his brothers, Richard Eugene Meredith (Nancy) of Kernersville and Forest Hayworth Meredith (Betty) of Leland. Morris also leaves several cousins, nephews, nieces, and a great number of friends. He will especially be missed by Jean Meredith of High Point, a very precious friend and constant companion.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
