Mr. Daniel Lee Slater

Mr. Daniel Lee Slater, 62 of Advance, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 4, 1949 in Forsyth County to the late Daniel and Mary Ellen Slater. Mr. Slater had retired as manager from Reynolda Nursery and Landscaping Supplies. He loved landscaping, fishing, golf, nature and especially his church family at Fellowship Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Boles Slater of the home; three sons, Samuel Lee Slater and wife Angela Dawn Slater of Winston-Salem, Ryan Heath Kildoo of Greensboro and Paul Jason Kildoo of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Isabella Paulette Slater and Robert Frank Harrison; one brother, Ronald Gray Slater and wife Margaret of Lewisville; one special niece, Michelle Slater Shoaf and husband John of Yadkinville and one special Aunt, Lucy Dull. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Pastor Wayne Swisher and Pastor Bill Hale. Burial will follow in Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The Slater family would like to give a special thanks to his former customers, friends and staff at Reynolda Nursery and the Staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and the Miller Street Dialysis.
