Mr. Richard Howard "D" Deheck, Sr.

Richard Howard ""Mr. D"" Deheck, 84, passed Friday, December 12, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 1, 1930 in Pocahontas, Iowa to Henry E. Deheck and Rose (McCahill) Deheck. He graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked as a Food Service Director for Saga Corporation and retired from Marriott Corporation in 1993. He loved to garden, cook, make pumpkin bread for his grandchildren, and travel the United States making frequent stops in Las Vegas and Harrah's Cherokee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Elizabeth (Branham) Deheck, son Richard Howard Deheck, II and wife, Debbie, daughters Rosemarie Deheck Sanders, of Martinsville, VA, and Vicki Lynn Deheck, three grandchildren, Austin Deheck, Caroline Deheck, and Nathaniel Sanders, of Martinsville, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Loretta Shors, Dorothy Javorsky, Lucille Javorsky, Helen Santovec, and Rose Colle, and brother Louis Deheck.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
