Mrs. Chandler Bruce Kimber, age 79 of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 29, 1934 in Florence, SC to the late Dr. John Larrabee and Helen Chandler Bruce. She was an extraordinary woman; a loving, caring friend who generously put others needs before her own. Mrs. Kimber and her late husband Ronald Winston Kimber were the former owners of the Ben Franklin Store in Clemmons. She enjoyed working with Welcome Wagon Clubs in various towns where they resided and even founded a few when they were not available. Mrs. Kimber was a member of DAR, the Clemmons Garden club and loved to play bridge. She had a beautiful soprano voice that she shared with her family, her church and also with the troops in the Bandshell at Daytona Beach. She also loved sewing and knitting. She made clothes for her family and also small pillows that she and her husband gave to friends and customers who needed them. To show her appreciation for Hospice, she knitted lap rugs for each room at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home when it opened in 1998. She is preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Martha Thomason. She is survived by her daughter, Janelle Kimber of Clemmons; a brother, John Larrabee Bruce, Jr.; a sister, Elizabeth Bruce Box and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Rev Gary Byrum. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a local no kill animal shelter. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com
