OSBORNE - Rural Hall Mrs. Helen Helton ""Granny"" Osborne, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1918 in McDowell County, WV to the late Alonzo Helton and Lottie Clay Helton. Helen was a member of Rural Hall Church of Christ and retired from WS/FC Schools. She was known for her famous pound cakes and kind heart and will always be remembered for her willingness to help those in need. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Osborne was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Wesley Osborne; a sister, Alva Elswick; and an aunt, Reba, who raised her. Surviving are her daughter, Bonita ""Bonnie"" Pounds (Jimmy) of Pfafftown; three grandchildren, Mary Beth Titus (John) of Pfafftown, Jim Pounds (Dana) of Tampa, FL, and Glenn ""Buzzy"" Pounds (Maya) of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Brittany and Austin Titus, and Koury and Karly Pounds; sister, Zona Billups; dear, wonderful nieces, Nicki Chandler, Lottie Paxson, Billie Jean, and Brenda Gail. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 P.M Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Rural Hall Memorial Park with Peter Cain, Minister officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rural Hall Church of Christ, 435 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
