Mrs. Lai Hing Au Lam

Mrs. Lai Hing Au Lam, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC, died February 6, 2015. Mrs. Lam was born August 1, 1923 in China to Sing Au and Lei Cheng Au. Lai was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a Business Woman while living in Hong Kong, helping her husband with the operation of their business until she came to the U.S. After moving to Winston-Salem, she assisted with the children and home for Peter, Anna and Michael, who are former owners of the Dragon Inn Chinese Restaurant, and Eastern Development Corp. of NC, and owners of the Kanpai Japanese Steak House. Everyone who met her, loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Yau Lam. She was blessed with six children; Yuen Lam, deceased, John Lam and wife, Winnie, Pui Lam and wife, Ming, Anna Chiu and husband, Peter, deceased, Michael Lam and wife, Rachael, Lisa Chiu and husband, Michael, beloved grandchildren; Kin Yee, Patricia and Jack , David, deceased, Samuel, Matthew, Tracy, M.J., Ricky, Charlene, deceased, three brothers, three sisters, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon prior to the service. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and everyone for the care given to Lai during her end stage.
