Mrs. Pauline ""Polly"" Manuel Smith, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Bermuda Commons. She was born on March 19, 1922 in Stokes County to Melvin E. Manuel, Sr. and Emma Green Manuel. Polly was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church for the past 60 years where she was a past deacon and Sunday school teacher. She retired from the Forsyth County School System with 30 years of service. Polly enjoyed reading, cross stitching, loved traveling, especially abroad. She also loved staying in touch with her friends from the school system, but most important, she enjoyed living life to the fullest each and every day. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Monroe J. Smith Sr. two brothers; M.E. Manuel, Jr. and Paul Manuel, two sisters, Leona Clanton and Mary Lochridge. Surviving are two sons, Monroe Jackson ""Jack"" Smith, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Clemmons, Robert ""Bob"" S. Smith and wife Amber of Clemmons, one daughter Sarah Robin and husband, Don of Florida six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, one brother Wilburn G. Manuel and wife, Hazel of Winston Salem. A graveside service will be conducted Friday May 31, 2013 at 11:00AM at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Christa Warise officiating.
