Mrs. Virginia Ann Baines Johnson

KERNERSVILLE - Virginia Baines Johnson, 82, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013. She was born October 15, 1931 in Suffolk, VA to the late Gurney and Martha Taylor Baines. Mrs. Johnson attended Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. Virginia went back to school at the age of 49, after raising her five children, and graduated at the age of 51 to begin her professional nursing career and worked in Naples, FL until retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Gurney Dean Baines. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Earl Randolph Johnson of the home; her five children, E.R. (Randy) Johnson, Jr., Tracy Ann Handy, Mark Taylor Johnson and wife, Gerry, Lori J. Martin, Kimberly J. Martin and husband, Gregory; seven grandchildren, Megan and Russell Grose, Caroline and Rachael Handy, Brandon and Dillon Kiger, and Travis Martin; three great-grandchildren, Haylie, Johnson, and Ava Kiger. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in memory of Virginia Johnson, 1510 Bunker Hill - Sandy Ridge Road, Kernersville, NC 27284 or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
