Winston-Salem- MSgt. John James Tucci, USMC (ret.), 98, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born June 22, 1920 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Anthony and Christina Tucci. He was a retired Master Sargent of the U.S. Marine Corps who served in both WW II and the Korean Conflict. He also represented his country by serving on the Marine Corps Pistol Team, Rifle Team and the Skeet Shooting Team. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, MSgt. Tucci went on to retire from AMP, Inc. in which he held multiple patents. He also taught Machine Shop and Blueprint reading at Forsyth Technical Community College. He was also a charter life member of the N.R.A. Mr. Tucci a self-made, disciplined man who was from an immigrant family of 12 children was the sole surviving member. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel, a son, Victor Tucci and 11 siblings. Survivors include two sons, Robert Tucci and James Tucci both of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Paula Tucci of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Jacob Tucci, John Tucci, Anna Tucci, Scott Cline and Jordan Tucci and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps.
