Muriel "Merle" Sutphin Conrad

Muriel Sutphin Conrad, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2023. Merle was born on March 31, 1933, in Forsyth County to the late Arthur and Connie Larrimore Sutphin. She graduated from Walkertown High School and went to work at Western Electric where she retired after 34 years of service. Merle moved from the beaches of Florida back to the NC mountains where she enjoyed gardening and canning. She was an avid Bowler and Bowled until the age of 88. She was also a big Tarheel Basketball fan. She volunteered at Northern Surry Hospital for 19 years.

 In addition to her parents, Merle is preceded in death by two sisters, Hele Parkes, and Gearline McGuire.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews, as well as her fur baby, Prissy.

Merle will be laid to rest at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023, with Rev. Francis Smith officiating.
