Mrs. Myra Gail Spencer Hunter, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday September 19, 2025, at her home in Pfafftown with her loving husband, Ted, by her side. Myra was born on December 25, 1941, in Yadkin County of the late Gilbert William Spencer and Sarah “Gail” Spencer. She loved her family and her church with all her heart. When Ted was deployed for the Air Force, she held down the fort, taking care of kids and home with the same care and love she did everything. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of Kingswood Church for 27 years where she sang in the choir as she had in church since the age of 3. She was always giving of herself; willing to show love to everyone. As a part of this giving spirit, Myra was a continual volunteer, whether as “Den Mother” in Cub Scouts, a judge at swim meets, PTA president, room mother in elementary school, Sunday school teacher, or working with the youth groups at her church she gave of herself in service to others. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering as a tutor at Mineral Springs Elementary, as a Conference Delegate, and as an election worker at the voting polls. Hobbies included sewing, Book Club, baking, and cake decorating. Myra worked as Deputy Clerk at the Clerk of Superior Court for the City of Winston-Salem from 1981 until retirement in 2006. She was well respected and was awarded the “Old North State Award” from the state of North Carolina. Myra is survived by her husband of 63 years, Theodore “Ted” Wesley Hunter, two sons, Adrian Wesley Hunter (Diane) of Navarre, FL, and Craig William Hunter (Amy) of Clemmons, three grandchildren, Eli Wesley Hunter, Noah Spencer Hunter, and Rae Lee Boag, one sister, Jeanette Spencer, and one brother, Lee G. Spencer (Kim). A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday October 2, 2025, at Kingswood Church in Rural Hall with Pastor Mark Muckler officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s research through charities such as the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
