Nancy Beth (Walnes) Brake, of Clemmons, North Carolina, born on April 3, 1946 in Teaneck, New Jersey, to the late Helen C. Walnes and the late Col. Paul Alje Walnes, entered into her Lord's arms at age 72 on September 26, 2018 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She graduated from Hampton High School in Hampton, Va. in 1964 and Longwood University in Farmville, Va. in 1968. She was an Educator and Homemaker. Nancy was the loving wife of Gary F. Brake. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Brake Kiel; son, Adam C. Brake (Michele); identical twin sister, Eleanor Walnes Semerjian (George); grandchildren, Abigail Beth Kiel, Hannah Grace Kiel, Madeline Joy Kiel, Cassidy Rose Brake, and Cameron Elise Brake; a brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Brake (Candy) and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her adored Boston Terrier, Trudy. Nancy enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad, spending time with her family especially her granddaughters, volunteering, and reading. In June of 2018, she and Gary shared their 50th wedding anniversary. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and also taught Kindergarten and served as principal at St. John's Lutheran School. Nancy lived life to the fullest and loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. Those around her could not help but feel special after getting to know her. Nancy never met a stranger and to this day has friends around the globe. She was a kind and generous friend, mother, sister, amazing nana and wife and will be missed by many who cherished her in their hearts. Those who wish may donate in Nancy's name to Senior Services of Forsyth County. Friends and family are welcome to attend a family visitation at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, on Wednesday, October 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and are also welcome to attend a celebration of Nancy's life on Thursday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2415 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston Salem, North Carolina, 27103. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
