Nancy Spaugh Fishel

Nancy Spaugh Fishel, 90, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on July 29, 2024. Nancy was born on December 27, 1933, to Roy C. Spaugh and Beulah Hoffman Spaugh in Forsyth County. She attended Griffith High School, then married Ernest S. Fishel. Nancy and Ernest raised 4 children and enjoyed 62 years together. Her family always enjoyed her home-cooking. She loved flowers, birds (especially cardinals), and she had a soft spot in her heart for cats, especially her “Big Boy”. She enjoyed NASCAR and was a faithful fan of Tar Heels basketball. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fishel, and brother, Robert Spaugh. Surviving are her children, Pam Hinson, Candis Fishel (Nancy Wolford), Mark Fishel, and Lori Fishel; and a grandson, Kenny Hinson. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 2, 2024, at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family extends a special “thank you” to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center’s 9th Floor, who were exceptionally kind; and especially to Dr. Barrau who made Nancy’s final days easier for her family and for her.
