Nancy Marie Pfeiffer

Nancy Marie Pfeiffer, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Nancy was born on August 28, 1941, in Wayne, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Marian Conway. She devoted her life to caring for others—both personally and professionally. An educator by calling and by nature, she began her career teaching at a Catholic school and later, after taking time to raise her young family, worked in classrooms for students with disabilities. After moving to North Carolina in 1995, she continued her work at Northwest Elementary School, where she made a lasting impact on hundreds of students.

For the past 30 years, Nancy made Lexington, North Carolina, her home. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, but above all, she was known for the way she lived her Christian values every day—through generosity, kindness, and a tireless devotion to the people she loved.

Nancy was married to her husband, Bill, for 59 years. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for him with extraordinary selflessness and grace. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a caring sister, and a supportive friend. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was always thinking of others first, finding quiet ways to help, give, and support.

Together with Bill, Nancy opened her home—and her heart—to children in a way that defined her life. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren after school through their elementary and middle school years, creating a space that was steady, safe, and full of warmth during some of their most formative times. She also cared for two children of close family friends from infancy until they began school, treating them as her own. Nancy’s home was a true haven for young children—a place of patience, laughter, and unconditional love.

Nancy’s kitchen was the heart of her home. A gifted cook and baker, she was famous for her chocolate chip cookies—absolutely the best ever!—and for hosting family dinners for every holiday, milestone, and celebration imaginable. If there was something to celebrate (or even if there wasn’t), Nancy was cooking. Bringing people together around her table was one of her greatest joys, and everyone left well-fed and well-loved.

Even while growing up in Villanova territory, Nancy had a lifelong love of Duke basketball, and the only thing that brought her greater joy than watching a game was her grandchildren, Kelsey Quaile and Killian Quaile, who were the light of her life, the center of her heart, and who will carry forward her legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marian Conway, and by her daughter and son, Linda Pfeiffer and William Pfeiffer.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William Pfeiffer; her daughter, Wendy Pfeiffer Farrow; her sisters, Susan McCusker and Carol Van Trieste; her brother, Michael Conway; her brother-in-law, Doug McCusker; her cherished grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Reverend Dana Myers officiating. The Family will receive friends a hour prior to the service at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, in gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Nancy and her family.
