Nancy Charleen Roope

Mrs. Nancy Charleen Griffin Roope, 80, went to be with the Lord, August 4, 2023.  She was born July 26, 1943, in Augusta County, Virginia to the late John Emanuel Griffin and Virginia Belle Bright Griffin.  Charleen worked for Sara Lee for 26 years.  She was a longtime member of Woodland Baptist Church.  She was a very friendly person who always had a smile and one you enjoyed being around.  She had a special love for her granddaughters and surrounded her life around those girls.  Charleen enjoyed the outdoors, traveling all around taking in God’s scenery, such as the mountains.  She loved the birds, butterflys, anything that reminded her of the creativity of God.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and church member, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Roope; one sister, Judy; and two brothers, James and Roscoe.  She is survived by her two sons, Arnold Roope (Donna Jean) and David Roope (Crystal); her daughter, Donna Nolte (Brendan); five grandchildren, Kaylee Roope, Madison Roope, Gracie Roope, Camden Roope, and Deanna Nolte; and one brother, Johnny Griffin (Delores) of Baltimore, Maryland. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00AM Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services beginning at 10:00AM at the church.
