Nancy Mason Spencer, age 68, passed away on February 4, 2026, surrounded by those she loved most, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family. She was born on October 14, 1957, in Covington, Virginia, and lived a life marked by service to others and deep love for those around her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Leola Mason, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Jane Spencer, and her niece Amanda Jo Mason.
She is survived by her loving husband, Winton Monroe Spencer; her children, Christopher Spencer (Jenny), Russell Spencer (Misty), and Alexis Horton (Josh); and her cherished grandchildren: Genesis Shumate (Trent), Skylar Spencer, Ethan Spencer, Arian Spencer, Aubree Spencer, Kaelan Spencer, Ian Spencer, Peyton Spencer, Brooklyn Horton, Bentley Horton, Katelyn Bullins & Kendall Bullins. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she took great pleasure in spending time with each of them.
Nancy is also survived by her siblings: Laura Ferris (David), Kenneth Mason (Mary), and Timothy Mason (Daisy), four nieces, seven nephews, as well as her special friends Renee Smith, Darlene Reed, and Berita Maynard, who held a treasured place in her heart.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who was most proud of her family. She also took great pride in her career in healthcare at GAP GI, where her compassion and dedication touched many lives. A woman of many talents, she found joy in singing, playing the piano, drawing, painting, sewing, cosmetology, playing with Ellie Mae, her dog, and spending meaningful time with those she loved. Although Nancy was from the mountains, her favorite place to vacation was Clearwater Beach.
Nancy was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in King, North Carolina, where her strong faith guided her life. She loved the Lord deeply and lived out her faith as a peacemaker and servant to others. Known for her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit, Nancy truly had a heart of pure gold and was beloved by all who knew her.
Her favorite verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday February 9, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in King, NC with Pastor Kevin Broyill and Pastor Tim Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday February 8, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
