Nancy Beeson Whicker

KERNERSVILLE - Nancy Beeson Whicker, 88, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Kernersville Medical Center. Nancy was born February 26, 1928 in Forsyth County to Joseph Curtis and Lola Smith Beeson. She worked as a nursing assistant with various facilities and was a longtime member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. Nancy was an avid competitor in sports and loved competition! Her physique was small, but her energy and spirit were huge! Among her favorite activities were bowling, square dancing, playing table games, and spending time with her family and friends. Her wit and selflessness were well known and she was loved by many!

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Richard Whicker; and son-in-law, John Avery, Jr.

Surviving are her children, Kathy Avery of Advance, NC, Richard Whicker (Valerie) of Forney, TX, Donna West (Keith) of Franklin, TN, and Tony Whicker (Karmen) of Memphis, TN; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Cash officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, 794 Sedge Garden Rd, Kernersville NC 27284.
