Mrs. Nellie Rachel Seamon Murray, age 83 of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Murray was born in Davie County, September 9, 1933 to the late Lewis Monroe Seamon and the late Ida Lillian Adams Seamon. She was a member of Beck's Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and served with the church quilting ministry for many years as well as serving on the Teller committee. Mrs. Murray retired from Hanes Hosiery in 1994. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Max Franklin Murray (barber and owner of Old Town Barber Shop in Old Town) her daughter, Sandra Murray Hull, two sisters; Estelle Durham and Ruby Boger, two brothers; Lewis Vestal ""Sonny"" Seamon and Jack Coyt Seamon. Mrs. Murray is survived by one daughter, Dreama M. (Gary) Allred of Walkertown and one son, Alan Dale Murray of Tobaccoville. Two grandchildren; Amy Hughes and Perry Simmons. One great-grandson, Cannon Marshall. A son-in-law, Roger Hull of Pfafftown. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Murray will be conducted Friday afternoon January 13, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Beck's Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Dr. Karl Minor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beck's Baptist Church, 5505 Becks Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
