N.G. Gray Salmons

Mr. N.G. ""Gray"" Salmons went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Gray lived a life characterized by a fervent love for his family. He spoke words of love, but more importantly, he demonstrated that love, with his commitment, sacrifice and amazing work ethic. Gray was a patriot and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a committed Christian and lifelong member of Pfafftown Baptist Church. Gray was an entrepreneur and founded several commercial ventures. His favorite commercial endeavors were Graco Vending Company and his forays into all aspects of the real estate industry. Because of Gray's astonishing generosity and sacrifice, many under-served families are living in comfortable and affordable housing today. Gray was a skilled builder and carpenter. His last wood-working projects were play houses for little children. Gray loved his God, his family and his country. He adored his ""Sweetheart"", Vermell, for sixty two years. Gray was a loving, kind and patient father. His joys and crowns were his grandsons- Kemper, Chase, Garrett and Blake. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, George Clark Salmons and Evella Cozart Salmons, a sister, Texi Lou Joyner and three brothers, Leonard, Ray and James Salmons. Gray is survived by his loving wife; Vermell Hauser Salmons, his son; Gary Wayne Salmons and wife Marsha, his daughter; Monica Salmons Kiger and husband Alan and his four grandsons; Chase and Blake Salmons and Kemper and Garrett Kiger. Gray is also survived by two sisters; Esterlene Hoots and Vaudeline Doss and a brother; George Salmons. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Pfafftown Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Bounds and Rev. Will Watson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:30 prior to the service at Pfafftown Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pfafftown Baptist Church, Hospice and Palliative Care Center or Habitat for Humanity.
