Nina Lee Padgett Rogers Rhyne, 77, of Rural Hall passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013 at the Katherine B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Stokes County on April 29, 1936 and was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Reid & Lula Marie Martin Padgett. She was the youngest child of four children and has been preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle P. Goins, and her two brothers, James Edward Padgett and Roy Sanders Padgett. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Marie Rogers, and her first husband, Jackie Leon Rogers. She was also very close to her very special mother-in-law, Mrs. Clara Rogers of Westfield. She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Forrest E. Rhyne of Rural Hall, and a son, Joel P. Rogers of Chico, California. She is also survived by many very special friends including Cathy Anderson, Marty Perry, Carrie and Danny Williams, and the Greg & Sharon Snider family. Nina graduated from Francisco High School in Stokes County and worked many years of her life. She worked at Hanes Hosiery, Dolly Madison Bakery and Crestwood Baptist Church, where she and Forrest E. Rhyne were married on June 25, 1983. She has been an Avon Representative for over thirty years. In the most recent years, she was the owner of Best Demo Services. She will be remembered for many things, but especially her cooking, her sense of humor, making fudge to give away to friends at Christmas, arranging flowers, and speaking to as many folks as she could each Sunday. She loved people and was always most happy when she was able to be of help to other folks. She has many church families and has attended, over the last fifty years, Marshall Baptist Church, Northwoods Baptist Church, Freedom Baptist Church, and most recently Woodland Baptist Church. During those years at those several churches, she sang in the choir, led the teenager and youth groups, taught Sunday School, organized banquets and cooked more food than seems possible. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Mrs. Rhyne will lie in state Saturday from 10:15 AM until 11:00 AM at the church. A private family graveside service will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that anyone wishing to offer a gift or memorial please send those to the Nina P. Rhyne Scholarship Fund, 2410 Mooreland Dr., Rural Hall, NC, 27045. Any gift will be used to establish the Nina P. Rhyne Scholarship for Young Musicians.
