Nola Teague Brooks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nola Brooks, who left us on July 5 at the age of 93. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Watauga County, Nola was a devoted mother, grandmother, Aunt and friend. When her children were young, she was a “stay at home Mom”. Later she worked and retired from Department of Social Services. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her with humor and compassion. Her desire to help the less fortunate translated to animals, especially cats. Her strength and warmth created a home filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Left to cherish her memory are: her daughters Becky Sanderford (Hugh), Sherri Brooks (Bob), grandson Lee Cleary (Jessi), niece Kay Holshouser (Richard), great nephews Brent (Shirley), Scott (Nena), Jeff (Morgan) Holshouser and treasured longtime friend Becky Hendrickson. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the stories she shared, and the deep love she gave so freely.

A family memorial service will be held on a later date. Family and friends are welcome to make donations to the Humane Society to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts. We will miss her dearly but find comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in all of us.
